‘Giving’ or ‘Donations’
We bring nothing into the world and will take nothing out of it when we die.
Everything we have or own is a gift of God.
Whether we consider ourselves to be ‘owners’ of what we possess, or ‘stewards’ of the resources we manage, will determine our attitude towards giving back to God
Giving to your local church is a biblical principle and our desire is that everyone gives in accordance to those principles taught in scripture.
In Old Testament times strict tithing was normal, and was required for all God’s people. (Both regular tithes and periodical tithes for specific purposes)
However Jesus came and, by His sacrificial death on the cross and resurrection, fulfilled the Law and we are now recipients of His grace.
In these circumstances we are taught:
-
To bring the first fruits of our labours as an offering to the Lord
-
To set aside each week the amount we have determined to give
-
To be a cheerful giver
-
To be generous in our giving
-
Not to neglect God’s house
-
God honours the giver
We therefore encourage all to give biblically as an act of obedience and to help release us form the ‘must have’ consumerist ways of the world.
We do that in various ways
-
Cash or cheque offerings (for those who are not UK tax payers)
-
Gift Aid donations (for those who do pay UK income tax)
The government of the UK believe that all gifts and donations made to charities and churches should be outside the scope of income tax. You should not be taxed on the value of any gifts made. However as you pay income tax at source the government have enacted a scheme whereby charities and churches recover that tax already paid at a later date.
Similarly if you are in receipt of any UK benefits any amounts given under the Gift Aid scheme will be acknowledged by the Benefits Office and taken into account when calculating any benefit due to you. Your benefits are therefore increased when you give.
Your giving helps us to impact the world for the good of the Kingdom...'young people growing, leaders and church office staff paid as they serve you, reaching out, bringing people in, equipping the saints for acts of service, lifting the heads of the poor, honouring God's word and advancing His kingdom
What a privilege it is to give!
Gift Aid Donations
All Donors need to complete a Gift Aid form
The preferred method of making Gift Aid donations is via a standing order at the Donors bank. This ensures regular giving and is the most convenient method for Donors.
For those who for some reason are unable to create standing orders the ‘Envelope System’ is available.
For tax recovery purposes all gifts must be properly recorded and so the requirement is that the envelopes should contain the name of the donor and the date of the gift. All cash and cheque gifts should therefore be placed in Gift Aid Envelopes |
